Administrative Department
Functions as the central organization for the efficient operation of the total Library program. The Administrative Department includes the Executive Director, Deputy Director for Public Service, Operations and Project Management Deputy Director, Assistant Director, Executive Assistant, Business Manager and Administrative Assistants.
Building Services
Is concerned with the preservation of the aesthetic beauty of the Library, its cleanliness and maintenance, safety throughout the building and grounds and for the proper functioning of all equipment.
Circulation Services
Is responsible for checking in and out materials, shelving and maintaining shelving areas, overdue material retrieval, patron records and some circulation computer functions.
Collection Management
Coordinates acquisition and shelving of all materials and oversees the selection of adult materials.
Community Services
Is responsible for all public relations and marketing efforts of the Library, produces graphics, signage and printed materials; responsible for all adult programming including coordination of Homebound Service and liaison with the Friends of the Library.
Computer Services
Is responsible for all computer and network operations. Coordinates computer training for staff and public.
Fiction/Audiovisual/Teen Services
Is your source for fiction books, movies, film documentaries, music and audio books. Book discussion groups for adults and a variety of activities for Teens are offered throughout the year. Our trained staff will assist you in selecting books and AV materials for your reading, viewing and listening pleasure. Teens will find guidance with school projects and research. We can also help adults and Teens improve their literacy skills and locate classes. Services are also available for homebound and physically challenged residents.
Human Resources
Is responsible for employment, training and development, benefits administration, personnel actions, performance review process, record keeping and reporting. Oversees volunteer program and processing of payroll.
Information Services
Provides assistance on a wide range of questions, both in person and on the phone. Information Services can assist in obtaining materials from other libraries, either through arranged pick-ups or Interlibrary Loan. The IS desk also provides access to subscription financial newsletters (Value Line, Morningstar etc.) and local Community Information.
Reference Services
Provides nonfiction materials, information and services to adult patrons. Librarians maintain the adult nonfiction circulating collection and the reference collection, which includes print material and a collection of online subscription databases. Reference staff provide reference service by telephone, chat, IM and in-person at the Reference Services Desk on the second floor of the library.
Registration Department
Staffs and maintains Registration and Patron Services. Is responsible for patron card registration and updating borrower information, adult program registration, voter registration, provides directional information, maintains lost and found, processes meeting room rentals and display case booking and answers switchboard and directs calls.
Technical Services
The Technical Services Department is responsible for preparing and readying books and audiovisual materials for circulation and for database maintenance of the online catalog. This entails providing bibliographic access to all library materials via the online catalog; applying authority control practices to the online bibliographic records; and then physically processing all of the materials.
Youth Services
The Youth Services department serves children from birth through age 11 and their parents and caregivers to help meet their educational, intellectual and recreational needs.
