Trash or Treasure?
In our May/June 2008 Preview, we featured a number of resources which can guide you in determining the value of your family heirlooms and other items around your house.
- Antiques Research (p4A) – This is a unique online resource available through our Web site. When you connect to it through the Library’s Research & Reference page, you gain free access to the records of a wide range of items sold at "real, live" auction sales held by about 50 leading regional auction houses throughout the United States. Our Librarians at the Reference Desk are always available to show you how to use this valuable and unique resource. Just ask!
- Antiques RoadshowTM –We have MyLibraryDV, a new service that allows you to download a copy of Antiques Roadshow to your home computer. It’s easy to do and then you can watch the program whenever you like.
- What’s It Worth? Antique Appraisals - Tuesday, June 10 at 7:30 p.m. If you like to get your information in person, we are inviting antiques teacher and appraiser Karl Gates to present a general history of appraising and an overview of current trends in the antique world. There is a $4 nonrefundable program fee if you would like an item appraised.
- Shop Mount Prospect’s Village-wide Garage Sale – Use your new found knowledge to unearth a treasure at this annual event, May 16, 17, & 18.
